If you see a gap between the broken part of bone. Get the screws removed ASAP. Got it removed in fourth month safe side. wen i started limping. To correct that i started walking while holding cruth in opposite side to neutralize the limping. Healing time : 4-6 months or more. Have lot of calcium. Didn't try folding ur leg too much if it is in stage of healing.

I am already walking. I limp the first few steps then normal walking thereafter. I am climbing stairs but it does still take some concentration. I still have a numb feeling below my knee which i completely ignore.
Metal plates can lead to log shortening or longening in Femur surgery.

Orthopedic surgeons may insert a pin inside the femur marrow to stabilize a femoral stress fracture, affixing it to the bone with screws.
Sometimes a local or genenral anaesthesia is used in surgery for a broken bone making the procedure painless and relatively quick.
A metal plate can be inserted and attached to the femur during surgery to mend the broken femur.
The recovery time can vary depending on the extent of the surgery and the break.
Immobilization of the femur via traction may be a required treatment for adequate and effective healing.
