You can call the issuing bank to verify that the cashiers check was issued for the amount indicated and if it was issued in your name.
Don't accept a cashiers check for more than the amount of the transaction. Some con artists will try to get you to accept a check for more than the transaction amount and ask that you send them or an associate the difference. Even if the check appears to clear your bank and the money get deposited into your account, the check can later be determined to be fradulent and you will lose your money.
